UAE President appoints Crown Prince, deputy rulers

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has issued an Emiri decree appointing His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Mohammed, who is commonly known as MBZ, ascended to the presidency last year. the appointment of Sheikh Khaled places him as next in line to take over as the leader of the federation.

The state news agency WAM reported that Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed and Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed had been appointed as Deputy Rulers of Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the son of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE. He is the UAE’s National Security Advisor. As chairman of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, he oversees a trillion dollars of assets. In addition, he serves as chairman of ADQ, the third-largest state fund in the emirate.

appiotmentIn addition, Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, has been appointed as UAE Vice President by the UAE President, with the approval of the UAE Federal Supreme Council. Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler, will serve as Vice President.

Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s brother. Manchester City football club is owned by the billionaire businessman. Moreover, he is chairman of Mubadala, the second-largest sovereign wealth fund in Abu Dhabi.
