UAE Traditional Sweets

Surprinsingly, the UAE has a variaety of desserts, mainly made of sugar, dates and flour. These desserts can be served alongside some fruit platter after lunch or for an early snack at noon. You will not find cakes and fancy made desserts in the local cuisine; however, the preparation of these desserts requires knowledge and practice.

 Aseeda: Mostly made with pumpkin that is boiled till tender and then mixed with flour and sugar and oil. It comes out similar to a pudding.

 

Batheetha: Prepared with dates, whole-wheat flour and cardamom. The dish is crumble goodness.

 

Lugaimat: The famous golden balls that is almost like mini doughnuts submerged in dates syrup.

 

Khanforoosh: Pan seared mini cakes that is made with eggs, flour, sugar, cardamom and saffron.

Sago: This is the original sago cooked in caramelized sugar syrup and saffron.
