Fujairah Ruler Receives Ugandan Ambassador Highlighting Strong UAE–Uganda Relations
His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, Member of UAE Supreme Council received H.E Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to UAE, Zaake Kibedi at his court in Fujairah during the holy month of Ramadan in the presence of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah and other government dignitaries.
The Ambassador visited to convey Ramadan greetings and pay his respects, as well as to deliver greetings from His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, reflecting the strong relations between the United Arab Emirates and Uganda. Also present were H.E. Aisa Ismail, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of the Uganda Consulate in Dubai, Ms. Ashah Nabbanja- First Secretary, Uganda Embassy, Ms. Erina Zalwango – Counsellor, Uganda Consulate, Mr. Imraan Lubanga, Commercial Assistant and John Paul Kalire, Esq, Special Advisor and Fujairah Liaison.
The visit also provided an opportunity to reflect on the growing economic engagement between the two countries. Bilateral trade between the UAE and Uganda has expanded significantly in recent years, reaching approximately USD 2.8 billion, with increasing exchanges in sectors such as agriculture, commodities, logistics, and investment.
His Highness noted Fujairah’s growing role in international trade and maritime logistics. The emirate is home to the Port of Fujairah, one of the world’s leading bunkering hubs and among the largest oil storage and refuelling centers globally. Located on the Gulf of Oman, the port provides direct maritime access to major international shipping routes connecting the Gulf with East Africa, including key corridors serving Uganda and the wider region.
His Excellency the Ambassador welcomed the strengthening engagement between Uganda and the UAE and expressed Uganda’s interest in deepening economic cooperation and private sector partnerships. He emphasized Uganda’s strong economic fundamentals, including its growing agricultural sector, expanding export capacity, and strategic position as a gateway to regional markets in East Africa, underscoring the potential for increased trade, investment, and business collaboration between the two countries.
Uganda and the United Arab Emirates continue to enjoy strong and growing relations, with opportunities to further expand cooperation in trade, investment, and economic engagement between Fujairah and Uganda.
