Fujairah Observer… In Our Sights…

Fujairah residents have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Fujairah Shooting & Equestrian Club based in Al Hayl. Fujairah Observer decided it was time to pay a visit now that the club has had 6 months to firmly establish itself. After the visit we all agreed it was well worth the wait. 

Based in the Al Hayl area (see map) this state-of-the-art facility offers many disciplines in indoor and outdoor shooting with equestrian and archery facilities planned for the future. 

Fujairah Observer was given a personal guided tour of the facility which is built to exacting international safety standards by the very informed Salem Obaid Rashed Alsalami. 

The Fujairah Shooting & Equestrian Club offers good car parking with café and learning facilities. All disciplines offer electronic monitoring and expert tuition for each discipline. 

The firearms training simulator does not use live ammunition and can be used from the age of eight years old (male or female). This appears to be very popular with entire families visiting the facility and enjoying several hours at the club.

All other disciplines are only for 12 years upwards (male or female). 

When we entered a separate hall for the 10-meter Air Pressure Shooting Range under the guidance of the expert one can use the Olympians preferred choice of air rifle. The renowned Feinwerkbau’s high-quality precision air rifles have amazing accuracy and we were surprised at how sensitive the trigger on the rifles were.

You can also keep your targets as mementos (if you’re any good).

There are comfortable viewing seats for family and friends to watch you in the ranges.

The cost of all disciplines is based on the amount of ammunition you use and not the cost of equipment. 

In this fully air-conditioned environment, we are sure the Fujairah Shooting & Equestrian Club will benefit from visitors in the summer months. 

We should also point out that everyone should consider membership in the Fujairah Shooting & Equestrian Club if they intend to visit on a regular basis whereby ammunition costs will be discounted dramatically.

There’s a 25 Mtr closed field where you can use the standing, kneeling or lying positions and targets are either stationary or moving. Following on from the closed range we visited the semi-closed 25-meter range which is similar to closed range except the range is only half covered creating a different environment. The semi-enclosed 50-meter range was my favourite where more accuracy and range was required.

Finally, we drove out to the outdoor Olympic Shoot Gun Field (skeet). A most impressive and safe discipline which affords its own covered stadium and a state-of-the-art throwing facility approved and overseen by current Indian record holder and medallist in Paratrap Shooting, India’s Harshit Tiwari who also coaches in the discipline.

All in all the entire whole visit gave the impression that the Fujairah Shooting & Equestrian Club will be a huge success.
