International Nurses Day is an international day observed around the world on 12 May of each year, to mark the contributions that nurses make to society.

It commemorates the birth of Florence Nightingale (Lady with the Lamp) who was born on May 12, 1820. Nurses Day celebrates the important role of nurses in health care.
